In a response dated May 29, 2020, to a letter from a cloistered nun, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, a former apostolic nuncio to the United States, speaks of the current crisis in the Church as “the metastasis of the conciliar cancer.” This letter and Archbishop Viganò response were published on May 31 by Marco Tosatti on his blog Stilum Curiæ, and translated by Jeanne Smits Almighty and Eternal God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords: graciously turn your gaze to us who invoke You with confidence. Once again, the fact that Archbishop Viganò is now recognizing, according to Dr. Moynihan, “that the clerical sexual abuse crisis is only one aspect of a deeper and wider crisis of the Christian faith in our age,” one that involves a successful infiltration of the Church by her enemies (or at least their pernicious ideas), is astounding. Let’s do it faithfully, honestly, reasonably and respectfully as has Archbishop Viganò. In the midst of the turmoil and destruction that we are witnessing, let us remember we have Our Lady in heaven who watches over us, to whom we can cling, and who promises us help. Johann du Toit.
