Join the Friends of the Spectacles for a free guided walk through this wonderful wetland. The Spectacles Wetlands are made up of two lakes (where the eyeglass lenses would be) which are joined by a waterway (the nose bridge of the eyeglasses). The two walk trails at The Spectacles have great opportunities for bird watching. The 4.7km long Aboriginal Heratige Trail is a loop trial loops around the 'big eye' wetland. Interpretive signs explain the story of traditional life as told by a Nyoongar elder and there is a bird hide located in the wetlands. Please wear shoes and clothing suitable for walking and weather conditions (walk will take place in rain). Let's see if The Spectacles are spectacular though. Bordering the lakes on the western and eastern sides are relatively undisturbed There is also the Banksia Walk Trail off to the side of the main wetlands trail which is a 3.2 km loop. It comprises almost entirely a wetland reserve surrounded by degraded native bushland.
